Forget Tier-100, this is the crowning achievement of the season. Especially since in this case you still need Tier-100 to grab it. The Utopia challenge has been running throughout Season 9 of Fortnite: Battle Royale, asking us to chase Fortbytes across the map and diligently complete our challenges in order to slowly decode a picture of Bunker Jonesy in the grips of madness and unlock rewards along the way. Getting the Singularity skin from the Utopia challenge requires 90 Fortbytes, and there are currently 89 available in the game. So that means anyone who’s keeping up on things will be able to unlock Singularity tomorrow at 9:00 AM Eastern.
Let’s take a look at the new skin in all her glory:
It’s a little less elaborate than previous Tier-100s: Ragnarok or The Prisoner this isn’t. She’s a futuristic battle armor sort of person that’s sort of like a fun version of Rox, one of the Tier 1 skins this season. But as is quickly becoming tradition, she’ll also have some unlockable styles that you can snag from hidden locations on the map. Players have already noticed helmets lying around in various locations, and each one will get you a new look: these have leaked early, as everything does. They’re themed around some of the other more popular skins from season’s past: Cuddle Team, Drift, Durr Burger and Rex. You unlock them by finding helmets throughout the map.
The question then becomes: what does this all mean? The challenge skin is typically a character in the world of Fortnite, and one that plays a role in bringing about the events of next season. Last season, for example, was the “Ruin” skin, who seemed to supercharge the volcano and destroy Tilted Towers. Singularity seems a little more straightforward than that: she’s a mech pilot, and as luck would have it there’s a giant mech being built over at pressure plant. And a monster for it to fight, swimming out there in the sea.
So expect Singularity to kick that whole thing off, which will almost definitely come to a head with a big fight on Saturday for this season’s live event. We’ll see.
